About Home Farm B&B

A 16th-century farmhouse with a rather long story

Home Farm is a characterful 16th-century farmhouse in the East Devon village of Wilmington, between Honiton and Axminster.

The building has changed and evolved over hundreds of years, and that's part of what we love about it. Rather than trying to turn Home Farm into a modern, uniform hotel, we're gradually restoring and improving it while retaining the features, quirks and individuality that make an old building interesting.

An old building, thoughtfully brought up to date

Home Farm exterior

We have a particular interest in historic buildings and adaptive re-use - finding ways for old buildings to continue working in the modern world without stripping away the things that make them special.

At Home Farm that means retaining original features and the individual character of the building, while providing the things our guests actually need: comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, good Wi-Fi and warm, welcoming rooms.

No two rooms at Home Farm are quite the same - and we rather like it that way.

A B&B, not a corporate hotel

Home Farm exterior

Home Farm is deliberately relaxed and informal.

There is no busy hotel lobby, restaurant or bar. Instead, you'll find comfortable rooms, peaceful shared spaces and a buffet breakfast to start the day.

Our public areas are kept quiet - we don't have televisions or background music playing in them - so guests can read, talk, work or simply enjoy a bit of peace.

A convenient place with plenty of character

Although Home Farm feels distinctly rural, we're directly on the A35, around three miles from Honiton and ten minutes from Axminster.

That makes us equally suited to guests exploring East Devon and the Jurassic Coast, visiting friends and family, travelling for work or simply breaking a longer journey.

We hope Home Farm offers something increasingly difficult to find: a comfortable, individual place to stay that still feels like the old building it really is.
